once upon a time there was a giant kokāko and two people called Maui and Noah.
The giant kokāko lives in the manawatu bush in Palmerston North. There was a big lake by the manawatu bush and the rocks would ripple. The river was like a waterfall.
One morning when Maui was asleep Noah wasn't there. When Maui woke up he couldn't find Noah. When Maui went outside he saw a giant footprint in the dirt then he was following what way the footprint was facing. When Maui was walking he could hear crying and it sounded like Noah.
Then Maui kept following the noise. When he got there he saw the giant kokāko with Noah under his wing. then Noah sneaked out from under the wing and walked home. But when they were walking home Noah stepped on a pile of blueberries and went on the kokāko’s chin and that's how the kokāko got its wattle.
